    The fried chicken recipe in the Korean way sauce can be cooked at home.

    You can be addicted when you taste this meal. The chicken is cooked in a method that covers it in a sweet and spicy sauce. It is also very crispy.

    The youth in Korea have loved fried chicken for a long time. The people from other countries also love it. Moreover, it is frequently consumed because ordering it is quick and easy. However, cooking at home offers a different taste and it is more healthy.

    Currently, there are several different recipes for this meal which is widely enjoyed in Korea. The most preferred of these is the spicy one. In Korea, this meal is commonly called "양념치킨" (Yangnyeom Chicken).

    Yangnyeom is prepared with a slightly sweet, spicy sauce. It is fried two times while cooking.

    The sense of this taste is very distinct and delicious. Some people say that it can be addictive. Even those who are not familiar with this sharp taste say that they can easily eat this crispy chicken. 

     

    Cooking Tips:

    1. To make the chicken cook crispier; after frying the chicken slightly in the pan, take it out and let it wait on a plate for a short time ( about 2 mins ), then continue frying it in the pan.

    2. When half of the chicken pieces start to float to the surface of the oil while frying, that’s a sign the chicken is cooked.

    3. You should use a strainer while frying, let the strainer stay in the oil, and take the chicken out with tongs. Plus, replace the dry flour occasionally; keeping it dry helps it stay crispier.

    4. Try to eat the chicken within 5-10 mins after cooking ~ it’s the most delicious moment!

    Spices or sauces can be added while cooking Korean-style fried chicken, so there are different kinds of fried chicken recipes.

    In this recipe, I wanted to show you two types of crispy chicken. The first recipe is for the classic lightly spicy version, and the second is for the Korean-style sweet sauced version.  Then let’s get started! ~

    Crispy Chicken Main Ingredients

    • 8 chicken drumsticks
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 cup water
    • 2 egg whites (yolks don’t give a nice color)
    • 1 small glass corn starch
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 2 cups oil
    • 1 teaspoon curry powder
    • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon red paprika
    • 1 baking powder

    Method

    1) Firstly, wash the chicken, after drying it, set it aside.

    2) Combine the starch and flour in a mixing bowl.

    3) After mixing, split the combination into two separate bowls. ~ You will use those two bowls at different stages. One will be added water and used for covering the chicken. The other flour will be used for breading.

    4) At this stage, first add garlic powder, black pepper, salt, red paprika, and baking powder to one bowl of flour and mix well. Then add water and the egg white, and stir again to prepare a liquid batter.

    5) Pour oil into a frying pan and set the temperature to 165°C.

    6) Following the order, the chicken is first covered in the liquid batter and then in the dry flour. After covering the chicken in the liquid batter, let the excess liquid drain off.

    7) After that, cover it with the dry flour combination, and add it directly to the hot oil to fry.

    8) When the cooking process is halfway done (when the color turns yellow), use tongs to take the chicken to the dry tray. Now let it stay on the tray for 2 mins.

    9) Then put it back into the hot oil and continue cooking ~ this will make it crispier.

    ***  Make sure there is plenty of liquid batter and dry flour for the chicken!

     

    Korean-Style Saucy Crispy Chicken Recipe

    Ingredients

    • Your preferred chicken parts, such as drumsticks, wings, boneless chicken thighs, etc.
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 cup water
    • 2 egg whites
    • 1 small glass of cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 2 cups of vegetable oil
    • 1 teaspoon curry powder
    • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon red paprika
    • 1 baking powder

    Sauce Ingredients

    • 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce or ketchup
    • 1.5 tablespoons of spicy red pepper paste (gochujang)
    • 1 teaspoon honey
    • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon grated garlic
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

    How to Make Korean Saucy Chicken

    1. First, prepare the chicken by following all the steps outlined in the crispy chicken recipe above until it is crispy and delicious.
    2. Once the chicken is cooked, you can start preparing the Korean-style sauce (it cooks quickly and easily).
    3. In a saucepan, add all the sauce ingredients (from the Sauce Ingredients list).
    4. Heat the sauce over medium heat and stir well. As soon as it starts to boil, remove the pan from the heat.
    5. Next, place the cooked crispy chicken on a large plate and pour the hot chicken sauce over it.
    6. You should serve it while hot, make sure all the chicken is covered in sauce.
